Postcard: The Blue Cafe in Dali

Dali Cafe, China

The place where we felt less displaced.

DALI: After the scurry of Lijiang, we settled into a more comfortable state of things in Dali, spending half a day on a lazy, long, cake-and-tea and sketch-saturated brunch. G. sketched J. and pinned that picture up on the wall. The cafe owners told us how they made the decision to quit their city jobs, buy this old ramshackle place, and run a cafe. There were green and blue camp chairs, loose-leaf tea, graffiti all over the rafters. Sometimes this place doubles as a bar at night … the bohemian dream.
